  6.    Thank you for your interest in FlexFile.  In order to give you the best
  7.    possible information on FlexFile, we have provided the Norton Guides
  8.    database (tm) and the on-line documentation file that ship with the
  9.    commercial FlexFile package.  These two files are compressed into the
  10.    self extracting zip file, FlexInfo.exe.  In order to view these
  11.    documents, copy FlexInfo.exe into a directory of your choosing and type:

  13.       C:\SOME_DIR>FlexInfo
  14.  
  15.    The two files mentioned above (and some auxiliary files) will be created
  16.    in the same directory into which you put FlexInfo.exe.

  18.    The two files, FlexFile.ng and FlexFile.doc, are similar in content.
  19.    Although, both files contain the same information, the Norton Guides
  20.    database is organized more functionally.  If you have (and use) the
  21.    Norton Guides then you will probably benefit the most from viewing the
  22.    information in this medium.  If you do not have the Norton Guides or you
  23.    prefer to read the documentation as you would a book, the FlexFile.doc
  24.    file should suit your needs.

  29.    The Vconvert.prg is provided as a demonstration of some advanced Clipper
  30.    5.01 code which uses FlexFile.  Simpler (and often more applicable) code
  31.    can be found under individual function examples in the documentation
  32.    files.  Pay special attention to the three functions V_USE(),
  33.    V_REPLACE() and V_RETRIEVE(). These three functions are all you will
  34.    need if you are doing nothing more than replacing Clipper's DBT system
  35.    with FlexFile.

  37.    As a last note, pay special attention to FlexFile's ability to store
  38.    Clipper 5.01 multi-dimensional arrays to a field.  This feature allows
  39.    your DBF records to have "ragged" lengths, a new and very powerful
  40.    concept in the DBF arena.
